Implants for hips, knees and shoulders customized to conform to your unique anatomy.
At Brigham and Women's, we're dedicated to offering the most innovative, state-of-the-art options to our joint replacement patients, including the use of custom-designed hip, knee and shoulder implants tailored specifically to fit your own natural bone structure.
Custom implants start by using CT technology to build a 3D model replica of your joint. This model is then used to create a one-of-a-kind guide and/or implant system built specifically for you. This provides more precision during surgery and a more natural fitting implant, with the goal of maximizing your range of motion and function.
We currently offer custom implants for select knee, hip and shoulder replacement candidates. Ask about our custom implant options when scheduling an appointment or virtual visit.
In addition to custom implant options, our expert surgeons offer individualized treatment to each patient. You can trust our orthopedic specialists to provide expert, compassionate patient care.

If you have sudden or ongoing pain in your knee, hip or shoulder, you may wonder when it’s time to seek medical care for your joint problem. You may be able to manage pain on your own for a while, but how do you know if joint pain is a sign of a serious problem that needs care?
After struggling with joint pain for years, Doug chose to undergo hip and knee replacement surgeries with Brigham and Women's Department of Orthopedics. To his delight and surprise, in both cases he was able to go home the very same day as his surgery.
The knee, the largest joint in the body, bears most of our weight. Due to the natural wear-and-tear that comes with constant lifting and moving, the knee is frequently affected by arthritis.
